Health and Safety Policy

It is the policy of First Call Maintenance Ltd that safety is managed with equal precedence with all other activities within First Call Maintenance Ltd operations. First Call Maintenance Ltd recognizes the need for each of its employees and contractors to be provided with a safe and healthy place in which to work. First Call Maintenance Ltd will make every practicable and reasonable effort in areas of accident prevention, injury protection and promotion of the health and safety welfare of all employees.

Management will:

  • Promote and implement the relevant acts and regulations that apply to working conditions.
  • Undertake to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all employees.
  • Establish systems for reducing harm by identifying and seeking to eliminate, isolate or minimize hazards.
  • Provide education, instruction and supervision in the correct use of all equipment and materials being used in the work they are required to undertake.
  • Ensure systems and processes and practices, and implement identified improvements that will benefit employees and communicate results to improve performance.
  • Review set objectives quarterly to ensure targets are being met.
  • Commit to include all employees in the annual Health & Safety review process.
  • Commit to an annual self-assessment of all Health & Safety policies and processes.
  • Conduct accurate reporting and recording of all accidents and incidents.
  • Commit to supporting the ACC early return to work system for all Employees.

Supervisors

being responsible for the safety, health and working conditions of all employees under their control are required to:

  • Provide information on safety and health matters to employees by way of instruction.
  • Provide initiative and follow up action on all matters concerning health and safety.
  • Report work hazards as they are observed.

Employees

are required to participate fully in matters concerning health and safety with the objective of creating a healthy and safe work place. Full participation should include:

  • The observation and practicing of safe work methods.
  • The correct use at all times of safety equipment.
  • The immediate reporting to Supervisors of health and safety representatives of any hazards, unsafe equipment or work areas, accidents or near misses.

Management will:
